Green Kitchen Cabinets

Green has moved past trend status and settled in as a regular cabinet color, much like blue did before it. Sage and olive tones keep showing up in new kitchens. Because green reads as a neutral once it sits next to wood and stone, it tends to age better than a bright statement color.

White and cream keep the room bright and let the green lead. Soft beige and greige give a quieter backdrop for the deeper shades. Pale blue or a light gray also sit well next to sage without competing.

White quartz and marble-look surfaces give clean contrast and suit sage and olive alike. Butcher block and natural wood counters play up the earthy side of the color. For Oxford green, lighter counters keep the kitchen feeling open.

It comes down to the mood. Sage green stays soft and calm and works across the whole kitchen, even in smaller rooms. Oxford green and olive read a touch deeper and often look best on an island or lower cabinets with lighter uppers.

Brass and gold give green a classic, slightly retro feel. Matte black reads more modern and sharpens the look. Brushed nickel stays neutral when you want the cabinet color to do the talking.

Sage and lighter greens do well in small kitchens since they stay soft and do not close the room in. The deeper Oxford and olive shades work better on a single run of base cabinets or an island, paired with light walls and counters.
